ODM leader Raila Odinga has held talks with the Kikuyu Council of Elders at his Karen residence.
Led by the council Chair Wachira Kiago, the group met the former Prime Minister to discuss how to unite the country ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
“I enjoyed a thoughtful discussion at my home over a meal with members of the Kikuyu Council of Elders led by their Chair Wachira Kiago,” wrote Raila on his social media handles.
“A conversation about moving our Country forward not on the patchy path of tribal lines that have and continue to occasion annihilation.”
The ODM leader added that time is nigh for Kenyans to embrace one another with love and be peacemakers as the country heads to the General Elections.
Leaders present were Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, EALA MP Oburu Odinga and Homa Bay Senator Moses Otieno Kajwang.
The meeting comes months after the ODM leader met the same Council at his Bondo rural home.
Luo Council of Elders was also present during the meeting
Over 500 elders arrived at Kang’o Karajamogi in Bondo in October last year to have meeting that was said to be about endorsing the Former Prime Minister for presidency come 2022.
Controversy ensued after the meeting after another group of elders emerged dismissing the group that had met the ODM leader.
Raila dismissed reports indicating the meeting was about endorsing him for Presidency and said the visitors came to promote peace not just between the Luos and Kikuyus but for all tribes for the benefit of building the nation.
Organisers of the Bondo meeting said Luo elders are also set to visit Mt Kenya for more talks but that has not happened.
Those who attended the meeting include businessmen Jimmy Wanjigi and SK Macharia.
MPSs Maina Kamanda, James Orengo, John Mbadi and many others from Luo Nyanza region were also present.
